Transmobility is a family run organisation based in Southampton. The company was founded by Val Athwal a self employed accountant who wanted to start a new venture within the taxi industry. After extensive research Val came to the conclusion that there were no readily available taxis for wheelchair assisted passengers. He enlisted the help of his son Prad Athwal manager of the family businesses and his nephew Rick Athwal who had valuable experience within the taxi trade.  After having come up with a business plan they then pitched the idea to the Southampton City Council.

Prad and Rick devised a list of local nursing homes, hospitals and doctor surgeries and began visiting these places. Success was almost immediate, as within 4 hours of cold call marketing their first job was booked in and Transmobility was born.

It started with 2 accessible vehicles, Transmobility now has a fleet of 14 vehicles and is quickly becoming recognised as the South’s premier wheelchair transport service.  The company has been awarded the Taxi Award 2010 from Brockenhurst College for business innovation and outstanding customer service.

Transmobility has come a long way in just two years however the family are aware that constant hard work is needed if they are to achieve their goal of becoming the country’s top providers of accessible travel. In order to achieve this, the company has decided to franchise the business across the country, giving others the opportunity to succeed in their own business.
